Lesson 3.4.7 Kosambiyasuttaṃ – Quarrel Breeds Disharmony!
Sakka, the lord of the devas, remained unperturbed despite being offended by a deformed Yakkha seated before him. He calmly explained to the Yakkha that even in anger, he maintained composure, avoiding harsh words or self-praise for his own well-being. This demonstrates that a serious, dedicated meditator can gradually cultivate similar insight, learning to control one's mental disposition, as all verbal and physical actions stem from one's volition. Commentaries on this emphasize the underlying intentions behind harmful or useless speech and their future consequences.
