| “Ariyaṃ vo, bhikkhave, aṭṭhaṅgikaṃ maggaṃ desessāmi vibhajissāmi. Taṃ suṇātha, sādhukaṃ manasi karotha; bhāsissāmī”ti. | “I will teach and analyse for you the Noble Eightfold Path, Bhikkhus, therefore, listen carefully and pay close attention. I will speak.” |
| “Evaṃ, bhante”ti kho te bhikkhū bhagavato paccassosuṃ. | “Yes, Bhante,” replied the Bhikkhus to the Bhagavā. |
| Bhagavā etadavoca– | Then the Bhagavā spoke thus: |
| “Katamo ca, bhikkhave, ariyo aṭṭhaṅgiko maggo? | “What, Bhikkhus, is the Noble Eightfold Path? |
