Caṅkamasuttaṃ	Bound Together by Inclinations
Atha kho bhagavā bhikkhū āmantesi:	Then the Bhagavā addressed the Bhikkhus:
“Passatha no tumhe, bhikkhave, sāriputtaṃ sambahulehi bhikkhūhi saddhiṃ caṅkamantan”ti?	“Do you, Bhikkhus see Sāriputta walking up and down with many Bhikkhus?”
“Evaṃ, bhante”.	“Yes, Bhante!”
“Sabbe kho ete, bhikkhave, bhikkhū mahāpaññā.	“Bhikkhus, all these Bhikkhus are of great wisdom.
Passatha no tumhe, bhikkhave, moggallānaṃ sambahulehi bhikkhūhi saddhiṃ caṅkamantan”ti?	Do you, Bhikkhus, see Moggallāna walking up and down with many Bhikkhus?”
“Evaṃ, bhante”. “Sabbe kho ete, bhikkhave, bhikkhū mahiddhikā.	“Yes, Bhante!” “Bhikkhus, all these Bhikkhus possess great magical power.
Passatha no tumhe, bhikkhave, kassapaṃ sambahulehi bhikkhūhi saddhiṃ caṅkamantan”ti?	Do you see, Bhikkhus, Kassapa walking up and down with many Bhikkhus?”
“Evaṃ, bhante”. “Sabbe kho ete, bhikkhave, bhikkhū dhutavādā.	“Yes, Bhante!” “Bhikkhus, all these Bhikkhus keep strict observances.
Passatha no tumhe, bhikkhave, anuruddhaṃ sambahulehi bhikkhūhi saddhiṃ caṅkamantan”ti?	Do you see, Bhikkhus, Anuruddha walking up and down with many Bhikkhus?”
“Evaṃ, bhante”. “Sabbe kho ete, bhikkhave, bhikkhū dibbacakkhukā.	“Yes, Bhante!” “Bhikkhus, all these Bhikkhus are endowed with super-human eye.
Passatha no tumhe, bhikkhave, puṇṇaṃ mantāniputtaṃ sambahulehi bhikkhūhi saddhiṃ caṅkamantan”ti?	Do you see, Bhikkhus, Puṇṇamantāniputta walking up and down with many Bhikkhus?”
“Evaṃ, bhante”. “Sabbe kho ete, bhikkhave, bhikkhū dhammakathikā.	“Yes, Bhante!” “Bhikkhus, all these Bhikkhus preach the Dhamma.
Passatha no tumhe, bhikkhave, upāliṃ sambahulehi bhikkhūhi saddhiṃ caṅkamantan”ti?	Do you see, Bhikkhus, Upāli walking up and down with many Bhikkhus?”
“Evaṃ, bhante”. “Sabbe kho ete, bhikkhave, bhikkhū vinayadharā.	“Yes, Bhante!” “Bhikkhus, all these Bhikkhus know the Vinaya by heart.
Passatha no tumhe, bhikkhave, ānandaṃ sambahulehi bhikkhūhi saddhiṃ caṅkamantan”ti?	Do you see, Bhikkhus, Ānanda walking up and down with many Bhikkhus?’’
“Evaṃ, bhante”. “Sabbe kho ete, bhikkhave, bhikkhū bahussutā.	“Yes, Bhante!” “Bhikkhus, all these Bhikkhus are of ample learning.
Passatha no tumhe, bhikkhave, devadattaṃ sambahulehi bhikkhūhi saddhiṃ caṅkamantan”ti?	Do you see, Bhikkhus, Devadatta walking up and down with many Bhikkhus?’’
“Evaṃ, bhante”. “Sabbe kho ete, bhikkhave, bhikkhū pāpicchā”.	“Yes, Bhante!” “Bhikkhus, all these Bhikkhus have bad intentions.”
“Dhātusova, bhikkhave, sattā saṃsandanti samenti.	“Bhikkhus, it is their disposition that beings connect together, meet together.
Hīnādhimuttikā hīnādhimuttikehi saddhiṃ saṃsandanti samenti;	Those having low inclination connect together and associate with those having low inclination, intent on evil;
kalyāṇādhimuttikā kalyāṇādhimuttikehi saddhiṃ saṃsandanti samenti.	those disposed towards virtue connect together and associate with those disposed towards virtue and intent on performing wholesome actions.
Atītampi kho, bhikkhave, addhānaṃ dhātusova sattā saṃsandiṃsu samiṃsu.	Bhikkhus, even in the past, beings used to connect together, meet together through their disposition.
Hīnādhimuttikā hīnādhimuttikehi saddhiṃ saṃsandiṃsu samiṃsu.	Those having low inclination used to connect together and associate with those having low inclination, intent on evil.
kalyāṇādhimuttikā kalyāṇādhimuttikehi saddhiṃ saṃsandiṃsu samiṃsu.”	Those disposed towards virtue used to connect together and associate with those disposed towards virtue and intent on performing wholesome actions.”
Anāgatampi kho, bhikkhave, addhānaṃ dhātusova sattā saṃsandissanti samessanti.	“Even in future, Bhikkhus, beings will connect together, meet together through their disposition.
Hīnādhimuttikā hīnādhimuttikehi saddhiṃ saṃsandissanti samessanti.	Those having low inclination will connect together and associate with those having low inclination, intent on evil.
kalyāṇādhimuttikā kalyāṇādhimuttikehi saddhiṃ saṃsandissanti samessanti.”	Those disposed towards virtue will connect together and associate with those disposed towards virtue and intent on performing wholesome actions.”
Etarahipi kho, bhikkhave, paccuppannaṃ addhānaṃ dhātusova sattā saṃsandanti samenti.	“Now in the present also, Bhikkhus, beings connect together, meet together through their disposition.
Hīnādhimuttikā hīnādhimuttikehi saddhiṃ saṃsandanti samenti.	Those having low inclination connect together and associate with those having low inclination, intent on evil.
kalyāṇādhimuttikā kalyāṇādhimuttikehi saddhiṃ saṃsandanti samentī”ti.	Those disposed towards virtue connect together and associate with those disposed towards virtue and intent on performing wholesome actions.”
