Verse 108
पापसुञ्ञो पुञ्ञसुञ्ञो,
अहंसुञ्ञो सुञ्ञममो;
कङ्खासुञ्ञो सङ्कासुञ्ञो,
बुद्धं तं पणमाम्यहं.
Pāpasuñño puññasuñño,*
Ahaṃsuñño suññamamo;
Kaṅkhāsuñño saṅkāsuñño,
Buddhaṃ taṃ paṇamāmyahaṃ.
I bow to the Buddha,
Who was beyond demerit and merit,
Beyond egoism and selfishness,
And void of all doubts and suspicion.
* The pair pāpasuñño, puññasuñño expresses a stage where one has beyond identification with both demerit and merit, beyond the karmic duality of unwholesome and wholesome. This dual term does not emphasize only a neutral moral sense but rather points to the liberation-oriented transcendence of both bad and good kamma.
