“Vuttañhetaṃ bhagavatā, vuttamarahatāti me sutaṃ. |
“This was said by the Bhagavā, this was said by the Arahat and heard by me. |
‘Ekadhammaṃ atītassa, bhikkhave, purisapuggalassa nāhaṃ tassa kiñci pāpakammaṃ akaraṇīyanti vadāmi. |
‘That person, Bhikkhus, who transgresses this one thing there is I dare say no evil deed whatsoever he would not perform. |
Katamaṃ ekadhammaṃ? |
What is this one thing? |
Yadidaṃ bhikkhave, sampajānamusāvādo’ti. |
This, Bhikkhus, is telling a lie consciously.’ |
Etamatthaṃ bhagavā avoca. |
This matter has been explained by the Bhagavā. |
Tatthetaṃ iti vuccati: |
In connection with this he said: |
‘Ekadhammaṃ atītassa, |
‘For a person who speaks falsehood and |
vitiṇṇaparalokassa, |
He thus gives up concern for the world beyond, |
Ayampi attho vutto bhagavatā, iti me sutanti.” |
This has been said by the Bhagavā, this has been heard by me.” |
