1.2.4 Rare Manifestations*

“Six manifestations, Bhikkhus, are difficult to be encountered in this world.

What are these six?

The manifestation of a Tathāgata, an Arahant, a Sammāsambuddha can rarely be found in this

world.

The manifestation of a person who is teaching the Dhamma and the Vinaya as taught by the

Tathāgata can rarely be found in this world.

The rebirth in the Aryan region is difficult to be encountered in this world.

The complete lack of any deficiency of the senses is difficult to be encountered by in this

world.

Having no stupidity or foolishness nor being deaf or dumb, this is difficult to be

encountered in this world.

Further the desire to do wholesome things can rarely be found in this world.

These, Bhikkhus, are the six manifestations that can rarely be found in this world.”
