Buddhasahassanāmāvalī

आसाखिन्‍नो इस्साखिन्‍नो, 
एजाखिन्‍नो खिन्‍न-इणो; 
छन्दखिन्‍नो बन्धखिन्‍नो, 
बुद्धं तं पणमाम्यहं.

Āsākhinno issākhinno,
Ejākhinno khinna-iṇo;
Chandakhinno bandhakhinno,
Buddhaṃ taṃ paṇamāmyahaṃ.

I bow to the Buddha,
Who was free from expectation and envy,
Free from desire he cleared all debts,
And was completely liberated from craving and bondage.

[*] khinno is the masculine nominative singular form of the past participle (pp.) of khijjati (be exhausted, worn out, fatigued). Here it is used in a metaphorical sense: “worn away by, worn down through, consumed by, brought to an end through.” Thus the meaning is “eroded, diminished, neutralized” and invites the translation “one whose hopes are worn away”, “free from expectation”. Compared to khīṇa, (from khīyati) “destroyed, eliminated, exhausted” which has a complete doctrinal sense (Verse 183: khīṇarāgo “one whose craving is destroyed”), khinno describes gradual wearing away.
