“Brahmaññañca vo, bhikkhave, desessāmi, brahmaññaphalāni ca. |
“I will teach you, Bhikkhus, what is Brahminhood and what are the fruits of Brahminhood. |
Taṃ suṇātha. Katamañca kho, bhikkhave, brahmaññaṃ? |
Therefore listen! What, Bhikkhus, is Brahminhood? |
Ayameva ariyo aṭṭhaṅgiko maggo, seyyathidaṃ– sammādiṭṭhi …pe… sammāsamādhi. |
It is this very Noble Eightfold Path, which is right view, … right concentration. |
Idaṃ vuccati, bhikkhave, brahmaññaṃ. | This is, Bhikkhus, what is called Brahminhood. |
Katamāni ca, bhikkhave, brahmaññaphalāni? | What, Bhikkhus, are the fruits of Brahminhood? |
Sotāpattiphalaṃ, sakadāgāmiphalaṃ, anāgāmiphalaṃ, arahattaphalaṃ– imāni vuccanti, bhikkhave, brahmaññaphalānī”ti. |
These are the fruit of entering the stream, the fruit of once-returning, the fruit of non-returning and the fruit of becoming an arahant. These, Bhikkhus, are the fruits of Brahminhood.” |
