---|---|
Sāvatthinidānaṃ. | This was laid down in Sāvatthi. |
“Gihino vāhaṃ, bhikkhave, pabbajitassa vā micchāpaṭipadaṃ na vaṇṇemi. |
“I do not explain, Bhikkhus, whether to a householder or someone, who has left the householders life, the wrong path. |
Gihi vā, bhikkhave, pabbajito vā micchāpaṭipanno micchāpaṭipattādhikaraṇahetu nārādhako hoti ñāyaṃ dhammaṃ kusalaṃ. |
Neither, Bhikkhus, a householder nor someone, who has left the householders life, who is following the wrong path, can, in consequence of practicing the wrong path attain the wholesome Dhamma. |
Katamā ca, bhikkhave, micchāpaṭipadā? | And what, Bhikkhus, is the wrong path? |
Seyyathidaṃ – micchādiṭṭhi … pe … micchāsamādhi. | This is wrong view, … wrong concentration. |
Ayaṃ vuccati, bhikkhave, micchāpaṭipadā. | This is, Bhikkhus, what is called the wrong path. |
Gihino vāhaṃ, bhikkhave, pabbajitassa vā micchāpaṭipadaṃ na vaṇṇemi. |
Therefore I do not explain, Bhikkhus, whether to a householder or someone who has left the householders life, the wrong path. |
Gihi vā, bhikkhave, pabbajito vā micchāpaṭipanno micchāpaṭipattādhikaraṇahetu nārādhako hoti ñāyaṃ dhammaṃ kusalaṃ. |
Whether, Bhikkhus, it is a householder or it is someone who has left the householders life and is following the wrong path, neither of them can, in consequence of practicing the wrong path, attain the wholesome Dhamma. |
Gihino vāhaṃ, bhikkhave, pabbajitassa vā sammāpaṭipadaṃ vaṇṇemi. |
I do explain, Bhikkhus, whether to a householder or someone who has left the householders life, the correct path. |
Gihi vā, bhikkhave, pabbajito vā sammāpaṭipanno sammāpaṭipattādhikaraṇahetu ārādhako hoti ñāyaṃ dhammaṃ kusalaṃ. |
Both, Bhikkhus, a householder or someone who has left the householders life, who are following the correct path can, in consequence of practicing the correct path, attain the wholesome Dhamma. |
Katamā ca, bhikkhave, sammāpaṭipadā? | And what, Bhikkhus, is the correct path? |
Seyyathidaṃ – sammādiṭṭhi … pe … sammāsamādhi. | This is right view, … right concentration. |
Ayaṃ vuccati, bhikkhave, sammāpaṭipadā. | This is, Bhikkhus, what is called the right path. |
Gihino vāhaṃ, bhikkhave, pabbajitassa vā sammāpaṭipadaṃ vaṇṇemi. |
Therefore I do explain, Bhikkhus, whether to a householder or someone who has left the householders life, the right path. |
Gihi vā, bhikkhave, pabbajito vā sammāpaṭipanno sammāpaṭipattādhikaraṇahetu ārādhako hoti ñāyaṃ dhammaṃ kusalan”ti. |
Whether, Bhikkhus, it is a householder or it is someone who has left the householders life and is following the correct path, both of them can, in consequence of practicing the correct path, attain the wholesome Dhamma.” |
