Vibhaṅgasuttaṃ, Part Two What Is Right View
… ‘Katamā ca, bhikkhave, sammādiṭṭhi? … ‘What, Bhikkhus, is called right view.
Yaṃ kho, bhikkhave, dukkhe ñāṇaṃ, It is, Bhikkhus, full knowledge of the fact of suffering;
dukkhasamudaye ñāṇaṃ, the knowledge of the arising of suffering;
dukkhanirodhe ñāṇaṃ, the knowledge of the cessation of suffering
dukkhanirodhagāminiyā paṭipadāya ñāṇaṃ.1 and the knowledge of the path leading to the eradication of suffering.
Ayaṃ vuccati, bhikkhave, sammādiṭṭhi.’ … This, Bhikkhus, is called right view.’ …

  1. Here the fourth Noble Truth is defined through the complex compound: the knowledge — ñāṇaṃ (nt., sing.) of the manner, conduct, way leading to — paṭipadāya (f., sing., gen.) the eradication, cessation —nirodha — of suffering — dukkha.1
