Namo tassa bhagavato arahato sammāsambuddhassa

Paṭhamaparisuddhasuttaṃ	An Utterly Pure Path for Any Householder to Tread On!
Sāvatthinidānaṃ.	This was explained in Sāvatthi.
“Aṭṭhime, bhikkhave, dhammā parisuddhā pariyodātā anaṅgaṇā vigatūpakkilesā anuppannā uppajjanti.	“There are, Bhikkhus, eight Dhammas that are utterly pure and completely spotless, without any stain left on them and undefiled.
Nāññatra tathāgatassa pātubhāvā arahato sammāsambuddhassa.	They have not arisen before and arise only when the Tathāgata, an Arahant, the Sammāsambuddha appears.
Katame aṭṭha?	What are these eight?
Seyyathidaṃ– sammādiṭṭhi …pe…¹ sammāsamādhi.	They are right view, … and right concentration.
Ime kho, bhikkhave, aṭṭha dhammā parisuddhā pariyodātā anaṅgaṇā vigatūpakkilesā anuppannā uppajjanti.	These are, Bhikkhus, eight Dhammas that are utterly pure and completely spotless, without any stain left on them and undefiled.

The usage of … pe … is an abbreviation of peyyāla and indicates that the omitted parts have to be filled in from memory. It was explained in detail in lesson 1.3.2 Orimatīrasuttam - The Hither and the Farther Shore.¹
